PROJECT: Architecture & Construction
DESCRIPTION: Residential Renovation
To call this a “screened porch” is an understatement. Our client is enjoying 18-foot ceilings, discreet lighting, and a stone fireplace. She has plenty of floor space for friends and neighbors to visit – go ahead and bring out the extra table, the coolers, and the dog. Light, bright, and airy — year round. Big ceiling fans cool it down in the hot months and a gas fireplace warms it in the cold months.
Our client is delighted that the porch looks like it was part of the original house. We achieved this seamless design by the careful selection of materials and by designing at the appropriate scale. Of great importance were not only the proportions of the house but also how the house is sited on the lot.
As dusk falls, this design starts to shine. The hidden lighting casts a warm glow on the ceiling and throughout the porch. The fire completes the picture and keeps things cozy. It’s a screen porch that isn’t just an accessory to the house. You could spend all day and feel right at home.
