Oxford Hill Renovation

PROJECT: Architecture & Construction
DESCRIPTION: Residential Renovation and Addition

For this family, the goal was to create a space that felt both practical and deeply personal—a place where everyday life and special moments could unfold with ease. The new, sun soaked family room provides exactly that: a versatile, light-filled retreat for reading, playing games, entertaining friends, or simply relaxing together. With ample storage for bikes and camping gear, it also supports their love of the outdoors. Seamlessly connected to the kitchen and dining room, the space extends naturally into the backyard, where a new patio with a fireplace lounge creates an inviting spot to gather year-round. Because the property presented steep grading challenges, a custom cast-in-place concrete retaining wall was designed to not only stabilize the site but also maximize daylight and create a graceful walkway to the patio. The design reflects the homeowners’ appreciation for both traditional and modern styles, blending warmth and clean lines through thoughtful details: travertine flooring, a Morrocan style fireplace, custom white oak shelving, and a white pine plank ceiling that adds natural texture.

Inside the main home, updates were made with the same balance of beauty and function. The kitchen was refreshed with improved usability, repainted cabinetry, updated hardware, and new fixtures. Upstairs, their daughter received a personalized new bedroom and bathroom, spaces that were designed to feel as functional as they are uniquely hers.

The result is a home that not only solves practical challenges but also gives the family spaces that reflect their lifestyle and sense of style.
