| Lexington Avenue Renovation, ADU, and Art Studio
PROJECT: Architecture & Construction
DESCRIPTION: Residential Renovation
Our client wanted to do a lot to their new home and needed to space it out over time. We divided the work into three phases.
Phase One improved the interior prior to the move-in date. We renovated a bathroom, a bedroom, and created a home office. A nice touch is that a panel in the bedroom bookshelves slides to cleverly hide the television screen.
For Phase Two, we built an ADU in the backyard with a second-floor art studio and an attached carport. This ADU/studio was designed to match the exterior of the house so that it looks like it has always been there. The two structures are linked by an extensively landscaped patio and a screened porch.
In Phase Three, we were back in the house. A wall was removed to join the breakfast nook and the newly renovated kitchen into a single room. Without adding any square footage, we created a larger, more livable space that has better light and more storage than before.
