| Hillwood Place Patio
PROJECT: Architecture & Construction
DESCRIPTION: Residential Renovation
Many homeowners have added a deck or patio only to find that it is already too small on day one. Our clients were thinking ahead with the large scale of this patio – and having less yard to maintain is a definite side benefit.
The patio is connected to the upper deck by a staircase that is disguised as a fence.
The strings of lights are not merely decorative. These premium bulbs are all the lighting the patio needs. They are mounted on multipurpose metal frames that run behind the built-in seating. These frames are another bit of planning ahead in that the frame can be for anything from bird feeders or party decor to privacy walls or wind screens. In order to maximize the open space, we built perimeter benches and, rather than the conventional central firepit, we set it in the corner.
There is plenty of room for events that might require setting up furniture, mingling, dancing, and whatever might come up during the long life of this patio.
