The owner of this custom home is an expert in the field of energy efficiency building. We agreed that this would be the underlying theme throughout the design process.
For passive heat absorption, the orientation of this home and its windows was critical. Clearly, it is important to passively capture heat from the sun. Of equal importance is avoiding unwanted solar heat and dissipating it within the house with passive airflow planning.
With this home design, we met the clients’ need for high efficiency without compromising their aesthetic choices. We delivered dramatically large windows without the house becoming a sunroom.
